i bought this antenna even after reading the bad reviews given to it the same thing happened too me the antenna is crimped on the lower portion of the antenna and not very well at that the thing had a 2 inch wobble at the crimp and stopped all transmitions and reception as it wobbled however i fixed this wobble with a drop of crazy glue at the crimp point my cobra ha ta is now solid as a rock on my midland 75-822 40 channel cb radio i attribute this problem too poor manufacturing wich can be fixed with glue but the manufacturers should take greater pride and ensure owner satisfaction by fixing this problem otherwise this antenna is awsome for a handheld cb works great and after fixing the problem think that this antenna works good and for all you guys out there who dont know what to do about this wobble i hope ive helpped you and for the manufacturer where is the quality control please step it up
Would have been five if not for the barely noticeable jiggle.*****The Cobra HA-BNC CB Adapter mentioned in an earlier review is NOT needed to connect this antenna to the MIDLAND 75-822 40 Channel 2 Way Radio. Despite this one flaw the antenna is performing flawlessly and it will serve as a reminder to me to take care when handling this important and sensitive part of my CB radio.I gave it four stars. Upon a closer inspection I noticed that something under the cover on the base part of the antenna appears to be slightly loose, allowing the antenna to feel like it is shifting just a hair in the base.
This item is a good upgrade that I feel is worth the price. Before attaching it to the CB transceiver something felt like it was shifting around if you shook it lightly. I purchased this antenna for use with the MIDLAND 75-822 40 Channel 2 Way Radio.
I tightened the antenna where it screws into the base and it helped but did not fix the problem. They both have standard antenna connections and the adapter is for connecting an external antenna to the antenna connection, which is not needed for the Midland 75-822 because it includes a mobile adapter.***** I do not know exact distances for transmitting and receiving with this antenna, but after switching to the Cobra HA-TA antenna I picked up weak signals clearly enough to understand on channels that had only given static with the included antenna just moments before.
When using this antenna the audio was much clearer on received signals and I have been told my transmissions are coming through both "loud and clear" and "crystal clear".Despite the wonderful performance of this antenna I only have one complaint about it.
otherwise you could be up a creek without a clue.you cant just depend on what you get with you radio. you need this if you have a hand held.
Cobra HA-TA Hand-Held CB Antenna When I received this antenna it was broken. I had to unwrap the tape around the base and re-attach the leads.
Also, hold the antenna at its base when grabbing the top to extend or collapse the antenna. This antenna works well. The antenna seems strong enough, but on any H-T radio the mount and it's internal attachment to the radio should be treated with respect. Try not to just hold the radio and pull or push the antenna. It is much more effective(transmitting and recieving) on my Midland 75-785 CB Handi-talkie than the stock "rubber duckie" that the radio came with. As with all "solid"(non-rubber duckie)antennas, be careful not to stress the mount on the radio when attaching and removing the collapsed antenna.
